Obesi Otasome Benjamin was born on April 8, 1992 in Agbura, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state to the family of Chief, and Mrs Obesi Benjamin Amakiri . Obesi Otasome Benjamin had his nursery and primary education at State School Otuekpein in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, and obtained his secondary education at Community Secondary School Otuedu Ogbia. He holds a B.Sc.Ed in Political Science from Niger Delta University, and is currently an M.Ed student in the same university.
His inborn leadership qualities and love for humanity led him to establish the Obesiworld Foundation at the age of 20 years. The foundation has helped several youths to discover and pursue their dreams. Through various sensitization programs in secondary schools, the foundation has helped lots of youths to abstain from cultism, prostitution and examination malpractice. In 2014, he joined the Functional Heart Foundation (FHF), established by Mrs Carol Alfred, offering humanitarian services to the elderly. Through his role as secretary, the foundation recorded lots of achievements. With hard work and commitment, he developed himself into a professional teacher, strategist, mentor and a youth leader.
The national economic recession of 2016 led him to establish the Mera Global Academy with the vision to provide quality education at an affordable rate to very low income earners and to create job opportunities for his fellow graduates. Since then, he has offered free scholarships to more than 50 indigent pupils.
Obesi Otasome Benjamin has also acquired various trainings in security management which gave him the opportunity to work with BIMS Security Ltd and Mubest Security Ltd as secretary.
The deplorable state of development and his uncommon love for his country gave birth to his political career. He began his political pursuit by actively engaging in students union and local council politics in preparation for his political ambitions and the vital role he intends to play in national politics.
As a result, in 2015, he started a movement known as Crusade for Good Governance in Nigeria, to consistently advocate for good governance in the country. In 2017, he led a group of progressive minded youths to establish the Young Progressives Party, YPP in Bayelsa state. He became the secretary of the party and was later named the leader of the party at the age of 25 years.
He is contesting for the post of Federal House of Representatives to represent the people of Yenagoa / Kolokuma / Opokuma Federal constituency.
